Script and Team Role Assigment

The short film's script originated from the Universal Arguments in Audiovisual Narrative subject, where students develop their ideas for a short film script through various assignments. In the same subject, students evaluate and eliminate scripts until only the favourite ones remain. This is how the script for Sincerely, Dracula, written by Rodrigo Monedero, came to life.

Next, team members decided on their roles. Candidates for directing and leading departments, as well as those applying for highly sought-after positions, presented their motivations and ideas for their desired roles. To learn more about the team and its members, click here.

Production and coordination

Creating a short film from scratch is not an easy task. It is necessary coordinating a lot of people, getting funding, managing locations for filming, finding actors, catering, drafting contracts, asking for permissions, and setting up a budget, among many other things handled by the production and direction team.

In the end we had the possibility to shoot in the manor MAS DEL FONDO and we secured Fernando Suárez as an actor to play Dracula.

Development of the visual style

To recreate Dracula's house, the art team had to dress and undress the manor; all the spaces had to be created from scratch. They sourced furniture, modified rooms, created and placed props, and dressed and made up the actors. Dracula's clothes for Fernando Suárez (actor) were rented.

The photography team prepared the technical script based on the storyboard and compiled a list of material needs for the shooting. Meanwhile, the design and graphics team developed the colour palette, logo, and style guide.

The Shooting

Post-production

Once the shooting days were over, the editing team started selecting the rough cuts and started with a first version of the short film based on the script and the script notes. At the same time, the sound team started editing the sound and music. For this purpose, the university has editing booths in which the students have to work.

The colour grading team is in charge of colouring the short film and adding the final touch. And finally, after a previous translation into English of the script, the short film is subtitled, and the necessary credits and graphics were added.
